Weymouth Camera Club Newsletter. September 2021.
I hope you have been able to get out and about this summer and have taken those winning shots!
Earlier in the year the Committee planned to hold a “hybrid” season ie. have some meetings on Zoom and some live meetings. More recently, due to the sudden rise in the number of Covid cases, it has been decided to have Zoom – only meetings until January. A review of the situation will be made before the Christmas break when your views will be welcome.
Since May the club has carried out it’s Summer Programme. The weekly website competition was held for 7 weeks this year. A core of 14 members took part with some impressive images being submitted. A presentation of all the DPIs and the announcement of the winning photographer will take place at the 26th October meeting.
The venues for the Summer Outings were well attended especially the afternoon at Moreton Gardens. There will be an opportunity to score the images from the 20 Shot Comp. held in Dorchester later in the season.
On Saturday 25th September the club will be holding it’s Open Day and Exhibition at the Centenary Club from 11.00am to 4.00pm. Admission is free. The club room has been refurbished during the lockdowns and now looks much smarter. The sub-committee of Mick, Ted, Peter K, Peter S, Steve and myself have worked hard to make this event possible. Please come and see the display of prints and DPIs. We hope to have lots of visitors and hopefully recruit some new members.
You will have received an email from Joy, our Treasurer, inviting you to join up for the coming season. We have had to put the fees back up to £45, I’m afraid, as last year some of the speakers didn’t charge for their talks whilst this season many are asking for higher fees, some as much as £150. We will also need to start paying for the hire of the Centenary Club if and when we return in the New Year.
Just a reminder that the new season starts on Tuesday 5th October 2021 at 7.30 on Zoom. You will receive an email inviting you to join the day before the meeting is due. This will be an opportunity to catch up with everyone and to welcome our new members. The new season’s programme is now available on the club website.
Looking forward to seeing you in the near future. Keep taking those photos!
